Loans Winnipeg is a free loan connection service for people who live or work in Winnipeg and the towns around the Perimeter, from Transcona and St. Boniface to Fort Garry, St. James, Selkirk and Niverville. The site explains how payday and installment loans work under Manitoba law, what a lender reads on a Winnipeg paycheque, and which Manitoba rules protect you once you sign. It is not a lender and it never charges you.
What this site is
This site is a plain language guide to the two loans most Winnipeg borrowers are offered online, with one apply link to licensed lenders. A payday loan runs from $100 to $1500, costs no more than $14 per $100 borrowed and is repaid from a coming paycheque. An installment loan runs from $500 to $10000 over 3 to 60 months at 18% to 35% APR. Each lender puts its own figures, total and dates in front of you before you sign.
In this city, winter usually decides which one fits. A Manitoba Hydro bill after a January cold snap is a one paycheque problem; a furnace that quits in February takes several months to pay off.
How we earn money
A lender pays us a referral fee when a loan funds, and that fee is the only money the site makes. It is paid from the lender's marketing budget, so it adds nothing to your fee, your APR or your payments. A declined application, or a loan you cancel inside Manitoba's 48 hour window, costs nobody anything.
Because we are paid only on funded loans, the outcome we want is an approval you can repay, which is often smaller than the most a lender would offer. The referral disclosure spells out the arrangement.

Who runs it
An independent Canadian publisher runs Loans Winnipeg as one of a small number of local loan guides, each written for a single city. The Loans Winnipeg Editorial Team writes and checks the pages, and nobody on it is a lender, a broker or a financial adviser. Our sources are The Consumer Protection Act, the Payday Loans Regulation (M.R. 99/2007), the federal Criminal Interest Rate Regulations and sample lender agreements. There are no reviews, testimonials or star ratings anywhere on the site.
What we hold ourselves to
Every page is checked against this list before it is published and again whenever a rule changes.
- Figures follow current law: $14 per $100 as the most a payday loan can cost, $1500 and 62 days as the Manitoba limits on the loan itself, and the 35% federal ceiling on installment lending. The lender's disclosure is the number you sign.
- Approval is described as resting on income and is never promised. No lender can say yes before it has seen your deposits, and neither can we.
- Manitoba protections are stated the way the law writes them: a licence for each lender location, online lenders included; a loan no larger than 30% of your net pay; cancellation at no cost within 48 hours, Sundays and holidays not counted; a 5% ceiling on renewals, replacement loans and a new loan taken within 7 days of paying one off; no second loan from the same lender while one is owing; and an age of majority of 18.
- Winnipeg is described as it is: dead batteries at minus thirty, flood season on the Red, and pay on hospital rotations and rail yard shifts. A payday loan costs the same by law in Osborne Village as in Waverley West.
- Pages link to the regulation or the regulator so you can check us.

What we are not
We are not a lender, and we hold no payday lender licence because we do not lend. No page asks for your banking details, identification or pay stubs. The application behind the apply button runs on a separate lending platform, and the lenders on it hold the Manitoba licences. The Manitoba Consumer Protection Office can tell you whether a lender is licensed before you sign anything.
There is no office to visit at Portage and Main or anywhere else in the city. Everything happens online, from a phone on a Southwest Transitway bus or a laptop at the kitchen table in St. Vital. The contact page explains how to reach us, how applying works walks through the four steps, and the FAQ covers the rest.
